At Twellman Tails, our goal is to raise Golden Retrievers that can do more than simply look good in the backyard. We want our dogs to have the drive, intelligence, athleticism, and natural ability to become dependable hunting partners while still having the temperament to be a loyal and loving family companion.
We are especially interested in producing dogs that can excel in the field—whether that's retrieving waterfowl, working alongside a hunter, training in the field, or enjoying an active outdoor lifestyle. We believe a great hunting dog should have the desire to work, the ability to learn, and the confidence to handle different environments. At the same time, we don't want to lose what makes the Golden Retriever so special: their loyalty, affection, trainability, and ability to become a true member of the family.
Our goal is to produce versatile Golden Retrievers with purpose—dogs that are ready to jump in the truck for a morning in the field, retrieve alongside their owner, and then come home and lay at their family's feet. We want our puppies to have the potential to become great hunting dogs, but just as importantly, we want them to become great friends.
Every puppy will be raised with an emphasis on early socialization, exposure to different environments, handling, and positive experiences. We want to give each pup a strong foundation that their future owner can build upon through continued training and development.
Ultimately, we're looking for families who want more than just a pet. We want to connect our puppies with people looking for a partner, companion, and friend for years of adventures—whether those adventures happen in a duck blind, in the field, on the water, or right at home with the family.
